Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) I had trouble suspending disbelief. To start with, for all the effort that has gone into digging trenches and sourcing uniforms, I was never entirely persuaded that the heroes were fighting on the Western Front. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 5, 2024 Full Review Luke Buckmaster Guardian There were times, particularly early on, when I couldn’t help but think, “These are just actors performing in a hole in the ground.” Rated: 2/5 Apr 5, 2024 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The script needs a bit more time, a bit more work, the direction needs a bit more finessing, the acting is as it can with the writing and direction, and the cinematography saves the film from feeling like a bit of a waste of time. Oct 3, 2024 Full Review Justin Bower Loud and Clear Reviews Before Dawn had the potential to rise above an oversaturation of World War movies, but fails to deliver substantive character development and smooth editing. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 20, 2024 Full Review Joel Copling Spectrum Culture There are no new ideas in Before Dawn. Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Jayne Nelson Radio Times The trench-set drama is poignant, and the film does deliver some important emotional lessons. Rated: 3/5 Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

simon b Don't know why this film has so many knockers. i thought it was great. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Chris F Nup it was solid and I refuse to hear otherwise. I freaking loved it. Some very clever acting in parts. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review D J was very average, wanted to fast forward, got seriously bored, did not arouse any other emotion. Kept thinking this looks like a tractor just dug a hole in out back Western Australia.. fake snow was TERRIBLE.. Cheesy Australian trite / accents and not very convincing.. would have been more interesting putting some of the trench soil under a microscope Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Luke R I’m not sure as to why there is so many negative reviews. This film really captures the poignant truth of the war and its effect on Australian culture at the time. These where adolescent men who where sold a false romanticised dream and experienced so much loss and horror. Young men who where forced to make life or death decisions; see their best mates die and loose so much. Those who survived and came back were never truly understood and on some cases created multigenerational trauma. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review jeff h WW1 mateship movies are an Aussie staple. This is ok, but obviously lacked budget for anything other than a few young actors on the way up. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Thomas S Not popular with the usual suspects but I thought this was a good watch . Well-acted and authentic film about the brave ANZACS Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews
