There are many worse ways to spend your time than watching Eddie Murphy sitting in a chair and talking about his life and career. Go to Full Review

The film may not dig as deep as it could, but it’s a warm, entertaining reminder of why Eddie Murphy remains one of the most influential—and flat-out funniest—performers of the past fifty years. Go to Full Review

Ron B @RonB60 3d Defintely entertaining enough that I wasn't bored and watched it alll the way through. The doc was definitely made so Eddie could defend his reputation.Eddie Murphy has always had an issue with Hollywood, feelling that even though he has made them over a billion dollars, they haven't ackhnowleged his greatness. I guess Eddie's message is: I may not have an oscar, but look how many people love me, think I'm great, and because I'm so great I live in a beautiful mansion and everyone needs to see the crazy amenities. See more Vinessa C @VeeNY11 3d I was so disappointed in this because I'm a huge Eddie Murphy fan since I was a child growing up in the 80s/ 90s. Unfortunately, it isn't really a documentary and it comes across as anything but humble. It's one thing to talk about your accomplishments or be proud of boundaries you broke through but usually it's other people recognizing those talents. The biggest thing that disappointed me, is that as a person who suffers from severe OCD, I was at first happy that he was going to talk about this as I didn't know he suffered from OCD..but then to say he cured himself (which he clearly didn't ) and further add to the stigmatization of a disorder that is already extremely misunderstood was sad. Here was a chance to help but instead he chose to further stigmatize his own illness. I'll always love and appreciate his work, but I could do without this. (Side note how you can talk about the greatest comedians of all time and make no mention of George Carlin is beyond me). See more Lee B Nov 29 Poorly done with too many cuts to other comedians. Too many meh clips and poorly organized. Too bad. Poor execution, not worthy of its subject. See more Sal D @JustTheLaw Nov 28 Such a disappointment. Eddie Murphy was da bomb, the king of entertainment for a period of time until he bombed taking on awful scripts and projects. This documentary is a vanity project presenting Eddie without any insights on his failures or his personal challenges. What made the documentary worse, beyond the effusive praise of when was da bomb, is what comes across as Eddie’s humongous ego. Eddie Murphy may have more talent than (all??) others - we can debate that - but there’s no debate for his lack of humbleness, which turned my stomach. See more Farah R. @Farah Nov 27 It’s not the Eddie Murphy documentary I was hoping for. As one of the best comedians of his generation and an actor that shaped my childhood, I was looking forward to hearing about what inspires him as an artist and his legacy in the industry. Being Eddie is just two hours of Murphy talking about himself in a one-dimensional way. See more Vincent S. @Vin_E_At_The_Movies Nov 25 A fun documentary that just lets us sit with the charming Eddie Murphy who is as engaging as he has always been. It does make you remember that Eddie should have received an Oscar nomination for The Nutty Professor! See more Read all reviews
