"At the root of it all, I love myself," is Murphy’s conclusion. That’s one of the most beautifully refreshing things I’ve heard a celebrity say of themselves of late. Go to Full Review

There are many worse ways to spend your time than watching Eddie Murphy sitting in a chair and talking about his life and career. Go to Full Review

Seeing Eddie spend time with his family, tell random jokes, and being honest about his early days in Hollywood was so rewarding. Go to Full Review

The film may not dig as deep as it could, but it’s a warm, entertaining reminder of why Eddie Murphy remains one of the most influential—and flat-out funniest—performers of the past fifty years. Go to Full Review

Ember W @em_wilder Jan 11 I am 40 years old so I have spent my entire life with Eddie Murphy in the limelight. I found it fun and nostalgic to walk down memory lane with him and was especially intrigued by his thoughtful, peaceful, and unbothered personality. However, it's definitely not the most interesting biographical documentary that I have seen and the clips from other comedians like Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Dave Chapelle that were interspersed throughout didn't add any insight or depth to the topic at hand. I'm not mad I watched it, but if you aren't already an Eddie Murphy fan or have some sort of context for the era/people discussed then you might not find it too entertaining. See more Kyle M Jan 4 A documentary portrait that insightfully deepens the subject, in which case Eddie Murphy being himself casually heartens natural laughs – some in reminiscence – and provokes resonance in good spirit. Most of the presented topics are mere celebratory structurally polished with agreeably moderate depth solely amid the in-between reflective perception as the best highlights besides the fascinatingly honest charisma. For anyone who simply enjoy his films with retained respect over the turkeys, this is a documentary delivered in pleasing appeal. (A-) See more Ed R @JustcallmeER Dec 31 Although he lead the way for African American comedians to take flight, this documentary did not do that. See more Eye C @ECinc Dec 26 Wow… what a character… I like him already… now he became a superior being… I love this documentary. See more Juan G Dec 13 I guess I can find a worse way to spend time than watching Eddie Murphy talk about his life and his amazing accomplishments. I didn't mind that so much. But having to stomach a z10/pro-g-Cide like Jerry Seinfeld more than once was pretty unbearable. Netflix should have thought that guest speaker through a lot more carefully. See more René P @Renesance Dec 10 So much for sanitized biographies. Didn't tread any new territory we haven't known or seen as audiences. I still laughed, but had the feeling, you would only know Eddie better if you were in his circle. I guess it's fair; when the artist is still around, they have control of the narrative. This is after all, their legacy, and the artist should have their messaging defined before departing this plane. Because, it seems that once they're gone, that's when the 'warts and all' bios come out! See more Read all reviews
