London crime boss Mick Roman is deathly ill, and time is running out to find a successor. His only options are an aging consigliere or an impulsive enforcer, and neither are suitable to take the throne. Meanwhile, chaos reigns over the family who are coping with a paranoid ex-soldier, the return of a rebellious niece, and a drug-fueled business meeting in Amsterdam. With deceit, ambition and infighting on the rise, this Roman empire may be about to fall.

Catherine Bray Guardian Points for effort, but without the energy that the genre is waiting for. Rated: 2/5 May 14, 2024 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk Bermondsey is undermined by some basic structural flaws. It's never clear how much of a comedy this is supposed to be, and its larky approach to torture and beatings doesn’t feel quite right. Rated: 3/5 May 17, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Vasilis P Watchable: if you like this genre of movie. Not as bad as some of the ratings have suggested. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review Richard S Very poor amateurish , had to turn off Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/30/24 Full Review Nico L Michael Head's Bermondsey Tales is a delightful addition to the British gangster genre, embracing its roots with charm and vigor. Despite obvious budget constraints and some noticeable interference in the editing suite, the film shines through its engaging characters and snappy dialogue. The set pieces strike a perfect balance between feeling refreshingly original and nostalgically familiar, making for an experience that is both novel and true to its influences. Ultimately, Bermondsey Tales succeeds as a heartfelt love letter to the genre, capturing its essence while bringing its own unique flavour to the table Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/13/24 Full Review Andy C Absolutely terrible. I mean really really really terrible The acting (excl the professional guys) has to be seen to be believed. Shocking. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/24 Full Review Tania A Shame, really wanted this to be a good movie, but maisie smith is the highlight of the film! Typical English film replicating just about every English movie from this genre with all the same actors and all the same cliches! Just awful ;( Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Stuart B For those who love Brit crime films such as The Business, Love Honour and Obey, Snatch, Dead Man Running, and The Firm. You will have a blast with Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire, whist the plot is its own thing and on paper might sound like something that’s been done before and done many times – the tale of a crime family trying to stay afloat and to make money, deals, and not let anyone ‘mug them off’, the style of dialogue, and the level of dialogue humour in the script and performances raised Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire far above that often trodden plot and reminded me a lot of those films I first mentioned and films which are similar to them and it was great to sit down for the evening and laugh my ass off as I watched a crazy bunch of characters living their life, causing chaos and dealing with the chaos caused to them by other crazy characters.
