Steve M Interesting premise, two guys are friends in college, one gets all the girls, the other, no. But the movie moves back and forth between then and 30 years later when the roles are reversed. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Flixster removed another review of mine! But what I loved the most was how Mirvish brought such an original tone to every aspect of this film. While the film is modern with interspersed flashbacks, what made this movie so engaging to watch, was how well it encapsulated American culture back when it had roots. There's a classic American grit that shines through especially in the New York scenes, that makes me think of Woody Allen's "Manhattan." This dimension of a 70s cinematography and style, made this film so original for me and one that was exhilarating to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Splendid adaptation of Jules Fieffer, well directed, and powered by Groundlings! Walter V. Addiego San Francisco Chronicle Among the film's chief pleasures are outstanding performances from Rash as the older Bernard and, especially, Koechner as the contemporary Huey. Rated: 3/4 Jun 12, 2018 Full Review James Berardinelli ReelViews Bernard and Huey is a small pleasure; it's almost always welcome to watch a character-based film crafted without pretentions... Rated: 3/4 Jun 9, 2018 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com A lovingly detailed look at two unhappy and unpleasant men. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 9, 2018 Full Review Joe Friar The Victoria Advocate David Koechner and Jim Rash deliver one of the best examples of camaraderie on screen this year. Bernard and Huey are relics in the age of the #MeToo movement. Rated: 3/4 Oct 28, 2018 Full Review Richard von Busack Pacific Sun (San Rafael, CA) This is mid-century comedy masquerading as millennial, and the mask keeps slipping. Sep 6, 2018 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation As much as I enjoy "faintly repulsive," like New Yorkers themselves, the movie's a bit exhausting to be around Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 21, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
