Some things are Better Than Chocolate, while some are far worse — and this would-be romance fails to deliver a filling morsel.

Erika G This film is a super cute turn of the century romcom bursting with sex and lgtbq+ feel-good enthusiasm. As a coming-out story about an artist and a woman just trying to find herself (while also hiding herself from her mother), it more than meets the mark for the dopamine rushed chick flick I was looking for. I would definitely watch again just for the smiles. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/23 Full Review PridePosterStudios Confirmed: NOT better than chocolate. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Henry M I think this movie is funny and is also somewhat touching. It is probably destined to be a cult classic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/25/22 Full Review Audience Member one of the most real, sex positive, honest queer films i've seen :) I can watch it again and again. It has such a variety of nuanced characters, and was a very important film for me during my my growing up years. Erin Sullivan Autostraddle I feel damaged, like this movie has taken a part of my soul. And not only does this movie refuse to apologize for it, I think it's going to use my soul's energy in order to make it even more ridiculous for the next person who watches it. Aug 17, 2021 Full Review Globe and Mail Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 19, 2002 Full Review Peter Stack San Francisco Chronicle Rated: 3/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Emily Drabinski Out Magazine The film flaps from the screen like a giant rainbow flag, and more queer power to those who love that sort of thing. May 26, 2022 Full Review Women in the Life Staff Women in the Life This film may not be better than chocolate, but it is better than most lesbian films, and very realistic. May 16, 2022 Full Review Jan Stuart The Advocate Better Than Chocolate is polished and insouciant and boasts the flashiest club numbers since The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
