03/22/2023 Excellent noir, outstanding performances my Ryan and Lupino Great cinematography by Dinskat Looks and feels like a RKO film as in should See more 12/31/2020 It is about a mentally unstable man who takes a job as a handyman at the house of a lonely widow who becomes his hostage. Movie was promising at begining but later very boring, it is more boring than suspense. It feels like the movie is longer than it actually is. And, the end is very disappointing. Beware My Lovely is a taut suspenser tailor-made for the talents of Ida Lupino and Robert Ryan. Lupino plays a pretty widow who impulsively hires handyman Ryan to look after her house. She soon learns Ryan is a dangerous schizophrenic, but by the time she comes to this realization she is unable to escape her house. The tension mounts apace, leading to an unexpected but quite logical finale. Produced by Lupino's then-husband Collier Young, Beware My Lovely was released by RKO Radio. Ida Lupino and Robert Ryan give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Harry Horner did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama. See more 08/26/2015 In a Film Noir mood the past few days, so I decided to dig into something else with Robert Ryan and UIda Lupino, and while I enjoyed it for the most part I was slightly put off by the fact that I felt as if we joined the story mid-stream and just got swept along with a soap opera's existing story instead of watching a stand-alone film.
