nick s The costume designer was a big fan of 1 Million BC; the cameraman had just acquired an underwater camera and wanted to put it through its paces; the director was probably in his late teens. Sid Haig was a pretty good actor but he was on his own out there. Not the worst film I've seen but still a nothing burger. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review John R What's with their eyes? The plot of this movie is pretty thin. There are scenes which give the impression that there was a lot more to the script, but nothing we see onscreen is anything but flashes of greatness (or maybe flashes of mediocrity). Patrick Wayne is a bright spot only because it's interesting to see John Wayne's son acting. None of the performances is anything to write home about. Perhaps they should've just made a movie about Atlantis. That would've been better. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/22 Full Review john m A lot of cool looking shots and I am a god damn whore for 70s cinematography in tropical locations but the adventure kind of stops here when most of the film just shows people underwater in various montages for really no reason. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Some OK performances but overall unsatisfying as a native culture is exploited and the villains laugh about it at the end. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Sid Haig wants to get his hands on some precious pearls so he takes a crew to an uncharted island to go diving for them. That's what this movie has a lot of filler of - diving. Haig & the gang end up taking on the bug eyed natives & things pick up a bit (some gnarly piranha action) but by then its just a 90 minute time passer unless you're a Haig fan & he's great in this as a fortune seeking pimp but Beyong Atlantis could have been so much more; it could have been a pretty good exploitation movie but Eddie Romero (the man who brought us Black Mama White Mama the same year) shoots for a PG rating Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting when it come to the sea Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
