After their plane crashes, only Emile (David La Haye), a 20-year old mentally disabled man, and Cendrine (Marie-France Monette), a bright 12-year-old girl, are able to make it safely to a life raft. They wash ashore on a Caribbean island that seems to be deserted. Initially frightened of her companion, Cendrine eventually recognizes his gentle nature, and they work together to survive. As they await rescue, they develop a strong friendship that may even turn into love.
