So in lieu of said drama, we get pure creativity on a massive scale, co-directed by one of the greatest filmmakers of our lifetime. What this movie shows best about Billie is that she is not on stage merely to entertain – she is there to connect.

There are a couple too many scenes of smitten fans, although their devotion is striking even by pop star standards. More revealing are the close-ups of Eilish’s phone notes during preparation for the tour, decrying one set of visuals as “Lame”.

The camera work and the use of 3D make the behind-the-scenes footage feel more intimate and the concert sequences more immersive. This is without a doubt the most immersive concert movie cinematic experience I’ve ever had.
