Hank Sartin Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Rick Groen Globe and Mail Rated: 3/4 Feb 28, 2011 Full Review Geoff Pevere Toronto Star Bechis, a former political exile from Argentina with a clear anti-colonialist bent, may be angered by the Guarani's plight, but his movie - like these people - is contemplative, patient and forcefully determined. Rated: 3/4 Feb 3, 2011 Full Review Jim Slotek Jam! Movies Birdwatchers is a nicely crafted piece of storytelling that is sad, but fascinating. Audience Member Excellent. An eye opening film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member NIcely shot, nice looking Brazilian film, but it's more about the plight of indigenous people in a modern society and makes a good statement. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A worthy subject gets a frustratingly obtuse treatment. A war of wills between indigenous Guarani Indians and the legal landowners of a section of rural Brazil is at least not an overly romanticized portrayal of the natives. Not much in the way of dramatic developments though, and really only scratches the surface of character motivations. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member ...and the genocide still continues. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member ultimately a sad film depicting the erosion of the lives and culture of the Guarani-Kaiowà both through the actions of wealthy "land-owners" but also through a growing awareness of the teenage children wanting to explore Western culture. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member White man's legacy is not always something to be proud of... strongly recommend Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
