Audience Member One of my favorites from the 2018 Palm Springs Film Festival. The poignant story of a Chinese woman, Lina, wife and mother who talks her husband into supporting her bid for a good salary as a nanny in Paris. She discovers too late she has been scammed and falls into homelessness. She is rescued by a knowing Chinese woman from the same province who, like several other women, have been trapped into prostitution and can never seem to get far enough ahead to return home. An insightful and sympathetic view of how poverty, desperation, and fear of humiliation by family can lead some into sex work. This is not a beautiful romp through Paris.
