Critics Consensus

Black Adam may end up pointing the way to an exciting future for DC films, but as a standalone experience, it's a wildly uneven letdown.

With lots of action, solid effects, and a story you don't have to be a comics fan to follow, Black Adam is one of the best DC movies to date.

Larushka Ivan-Zadeh Metro Newspaper (UK) Even the rock-solid charisma of Dwayne Johnson rolls off a cliff with this noisy and disappointingly boring load of CGI-laden superhero tosh. A DCU fail. Dec 27, 2022 Full Review Richard Brody New Yorker There’s something morally deadening and aesthetically depressing about the bottomless toy chest of C.G.I. being reduced to the toolbox of cinematic bureaucracy. Oct 28, 2022 Full Review Trace Sauveur Austin Chronicle Black Adam is mostly a movie made up of strictly baseline ideas, or the regurgitation of already existing ones. ERIC S I DISLIKED THE FACT A DAD WHO LOST A SON WOULD FEEL HATRED AND ARROGANCE KNOWING HIS SON WOULDN'T WANT HIM LIKE THAT. ALSO, AT THE END, (SPOILER ALERT) WHY HAVE SUPERMAN INSTEAD OF THE ONE WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ARCH ENEMY, SHAZAM, SHOW UP? OTHER THAN THESE ISSUES, IT WAS A DECENT MOVIE. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Michael I don't even know where to begin. I honestly didn't like anything about this movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Matthew This movie had so much potential but was written so poorly. why beat up the good guy? put him in jail and then beg for his help at the end. great actors. good special effects. could have been a great movie. the writing sucked Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review Craig A little darker than Shazam. overall a pretty decent movie. the action was well executed. the acting was ok. Dwayne does well as Adam. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Tyrone it's was solid dr fate was perfect Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review The Ron This is just a bad movie. I like The Rock but this is not good. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
