Audience Member This movie is horrible and has terrible acting.. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member After the movie is over you realize why the weird title...But the movie is filled with non realistic vision of love life and how after you get in love and in relationship there is no problems... I could also say the director is not very original too. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good move to watch with your significant other. Quite different from some where black people are all seen as stereotypical leeches on society with ignorant knowledge and subpar education. There wasn't violence and normal disrespect. Even the end turned out to be a positive for all characters involved. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member So fucking good guys, omg. You have to watch this. Take Godfather and make it like at least 27 times as good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I admit that i like to see black love. Robert (Darrin DeWitt) and Morgan (Gabrielle Dennis) had good chemistry but i guess when you have two attractive people in the lead role, the chemistry sort of happens. A point of concern was Julian's coffee business which was making him so much money that he could afford his own place. This was his real job and not a side job. He wore a suit and sold coffee in his house--not at a store. This must be the only coffee shop in town. Robert is also apparently a robot. He lacks real emotion. He loses his job and loses his girlfriend to his boss--on the same day. But why should he worry, this isn't real life. His ex girlfriend, comes to beg for "forgiveness" at some point in the movie--but only because she needs a place to stay. Robert is willing to let her move in. Why? He also quickly rushes into a relationship with the beautiful Morgan. He has apparently done that which most of us can not do very quickly--or at least not the very next day. He has moved on. When did he find the time to quickly re-assess his life, blame the world for his problems and/or briefly hate women? In the end, everything works out for everyone. Morgan and Robert are pregnant and of course, Robert isn't broke anymore. It's not an original story but it could have been re told in a more masterful way. Color quality and sound were good which is something that is usually lacking in low budget films. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Really enjoyed this movie! I came across it at the right time in MY life! It inspires and gives a sense of pride like no other movie. I enjoyed the acting and the dialogue. Mary Houlihan Chicago Sun-Times In the end, there's nothing wrong with an overly positive outlook on relationships, and Harris has a nice hand with bits of dialogue that do ring true. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 17, 2014 Full Review Geoff Berkshire Variety A weak brew of light romance and heavy-handed messages. Jan 12, 2014 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com A confused muddle, with characters who often behave in ways that have no correlation to actual human behavior, and language that exists in order to prop up the agenda. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 10, 2014 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Black Coffee never resorts to stale melodrama or cheap laughs, sticking true to a low key straight romance between characters that aren't locked into stereotype. Rated: 2/5 Aug 29, 2019 Full Review Tracy Moore Common Sense Media Middling rom-com tackles ambition and romance, heavy themes. Rated: 2/5 Oct 28, 2014 Full Review Adrian Centeno We Got This Covered Black Coffee's courtship-over-eroticism ideals are appealing, but the film is too nice to bother us with things like conflict or drama.
