Alise Chaffins MacGuffin or Meaning (Substack) Bleeding manages to be both a very solid horror movie and an impressive allegory for addiction. No matter your reason for tuning into this film, it is worth your time. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 15, 2025 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex Bleeding is a bloody, dark vision of a crime drama with vampires, and should find some room in cult classic rotations in the years ahead. Rated: 7/10 Jun 19, 2025 Full Review Ben Gibbons Screen Rant Bleeding is an independent vampire flick that attempts to shake up the genre with drama and politics, but the result lacks any real bite. Rated: 3/10 Jun 13, 2025 Full Review Nathaniel Muir AIPT The third act is filled with blood and death and all of it is because of a powerful drug. It may not be a typical vampire movie, but Bleeding is just as terrifying. Jun 10, 2025 Full Review Rebecca Johnson Film Focus Online Using its horror aspect as a metaphor for addiction, Bleeding is a bleak yet impressive watch helmed by two excellent lead performances. Rated: 3/5 Jun 9, 2025 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat The characters are well-written, and the cast brings them to life in a most wonderful way. Blackrain B It’s certainly not your classic vampire movie. In a genre that’s been re-made so many times, Bleeding stands out thanks to the strong performances from its main cast, each bringing something unique to the screen. Bleeding is a emotionally intense horror film that breathes new life into the vampire genre. Directed by Andrew Bell, this 2025 release offers more than just scares—it’s a haunting character-driven story that explores grief, addiction, and survival in a raw, realistic way. At the heart of the film is a standout performance from John R. Howley, who plays Eric, a teenager navigating the aftermath of family tragedy while confronting a terrifying supernatural threat. His portrayal is grounded and deeply affecting. Jasper Jones brings a tense, unpredictable energy to his role as Sean, Eric’s troubled cousin, while Tori Wong is captivating as Sara, a mysterious and unsettling figure whose presence drives much of the film’s suspense. Bell’s direction is confident and atmospheric, skillfully blending psychological tension with horror elements. The cinematography by Daniel Cho adds a gritty, almost dreamlike texture to the small-town setting. What sets Bleeding apart is its willingness to focus on human vulnerability rather than just shock or gore. The film uses vampirism as a metaphor, but never loses sight of the very real emotional struggles at its core. It’s this blend of genre and grounded storytelling that makes the film so compelling. In all, Bleeding is a gripping, thoughtful entry in modern horror—one that marks Andrew Bell as a director to watch, and showcases a talented young cast delivering performances that feel both real and unforgettable. Together, the cast gives Bleeding its raw edge, turning a dark, emotional story into something that feels deeply personal and real. By the end, we get a hint that there may be more to come. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/08/25 Full Review Diet Dr. Paul . Wow… what a ride! This was a remarkable film that transcends genre as much as it did expectations. This film is jarring, bleak and extremely visceral but without being torture porn. An interesting look at addiction through the eyes of a vampire/zombie film… one that can please horror fans as easily as those outside genre film fandoms. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/25 Full Review Zach D Director Andrew Bell’s Bleeding is a feral, slow-burn descent into the darkest corners of vampirism. Less seduction, more sickness. With haunting cinematography and a sound design that rattles the nerves, Bell trades gothic glamor for raw, bodily horror. This film feels uncomfortably real and terrifyingly plausible.
