With the help of his own mother (Noriko Sengoku), sightless sculptor Michio (Eiji Funakoshi) abducts gorgeous model Aki (Mako Midori) and brings her back to his lair -- a warehouse populated by demented art objects that mimic female bodies. There he forces the young beauty to endure a series of sadomasochistic mind games. But, as the weeks wear on, Aki becomes deeply immersed in the erotic torment she's put through, and she and Michio descend into animalistic depths of pleasure and pain.

Audience Member I was amazed by the acting and dialogue between the main characters, especially towards the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A blind sculptor and his captive muse are at the center of this Edogawa Rampo adaption, directed by Yasuzō Masumura (Giants and Toys, Irezumi). This movie looks like the inside of a maniac's dream after they've done days and days of psychedelics and I couldn't be more excited to have watched this. Aki works as an artist's model, but she's never been hired like this before. She's been kidnapped and taken to a warehouse filled with gigantic female body parts like eyes, legs, lips and breasts as well as two huge male and female figures. There, Michio tells her that he plans on using her to sculpt his most perfect version of the female body. At first, she wants to escape, but she slowly comes to obsess over her captor as much as he does her. However, his mother, who has helped him to this point, may keep their strange romance from achieving its perfect flower. Make no mistake — this is a dark and strange movie for grownups. But if you've ready for the challenge, it will reward you with an eerie story and some incredible visual scenes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member perfectly abnormal world that we (japanese) can create like tea ceremony house.dialogue is so beautiful, if you understand japanese. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Totally hentai offering from Yasuzo Masumura. At first I thought this was going to be psychedelic horror (OK, sleazy psychedelic horror) - and when the blind sculptor kidnapped the model and brought her back to his studio filled with giant eyes, noses, ears, legs, arms, and breasts (and two gigantic warehouse sized nudes), I thought "yes, bring the weirdness!". However, things descended further into S&M with both the sculptor and the model getting fully into tactile sensations, including pain. When the sculptor's mother (who abetted the kidnapping) is dispatched, the couple descends into total madness and a very alarming conclusion. Fortunately, things aren't too graphic but the psychological experience is probably too much (if you don't find that it crosses the line into ridiculous). Caveat emptor. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member The third act is very philosophical (as well as very disturbing). I've read some of Edogawa Rampo's short stories and i think this film quite successful for establishing the term ' Rampo-esque' in the cinema, including surrealistic touches and psycho-sexual nightmarish perspective that was significance in some of Rampo's stories such as MIRROR HELL and THE CATERPILLAR etc. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
