Matt R While the pacing is inconsistent and the characters are not really endearing, the quality cast, period charm and cinematography makes it just entertaining enough to pass the time. It is a remake so you could skip it and watch David Lean's 1945 instead if the 2020 cast isn't enough of a draw. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review R-T T This is an extremely stupid comedy that is not worth watching. She doesn't make you laugh, and the ending is one of the worst in the last 5 years. Wasted time and money Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review kate b I think Dan Stevens might be magic?? He can crush comedy in any shade. Isla is LOVELY. They're all lovely. I'd marry and haunt them all. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Jonna M Very amusing with great actors! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/30/23 Full Review Caen & A Entertaining romp of a film, based of story from a long time ago, refreshing change from superheroe films which are good, but change is needed! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/06/23 Full Review rob b Unnecessary and inferior remake. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Stephen Romei The Australian There's more Madame Arcati, which can only be a bonus when Dench has the role. And there's a riff on the pros and cons of having a ghostwriter that I think is quite clever. Rated: 3/5 Apr 23, 2021 Full Review Alexandra Heller-Nicholas ABC Radio (Australia) Leaving aside one's devotion to the previous versions of Blithe Spirit, this latest version is well cast, upbeat and a bit of a rainbow in a time marked so heavily by unwavering rain clouds. Rated: 3/5 Apr 7, 2021 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Spirited performances and wonderful costume design stand little chance against script and direction that smother sparks beneath slapstick and treacle. Apr 1, 2021 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Blithe Spirit” isn’t without its charms and their are some laugh-out-loud moments of sly dialogue and slapstick humor that really work. But there’s still the feeling that the movie misses an opportunity to be more. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Victoria Luxford City AM A fairly lightweight story, meaning this lightweight adaptations flaws dont seem so obvious. Lovers of the 1945 David Lean version, however, wont find anything to dislodge that title from their affections. Rated: 3/5 Feb 28, 2022 Full Review Javier Cortijo Cinemanía (Spain) The setting is exquisite, Leslie Mann is frankly fine as the fussing and ectoplasmic Elvira and Judi Dench is endearing as the scammer Madame Arcati. Too bad Dan Stevens is not up to the task, especially with Rex Harrison in mind. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2/5 Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
