Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Rated: B- Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Robert Faires Austin Chronicle Rated: 2/5 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Bound by Honor contains some effective performances, some moments of deeply felt truth, and a portrait of prison life that I assume is accurate. What seems to be missing is a clear idea of why the movie was made. Rated: 2/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Lael Loewenstein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It has an epic sweep to it... Performances are strong, script isn't bad. I wish it wasn't quite so long, but it's a powerful film. May 13, 2024 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn It was very well rooted in reality, which is something we typically don't see in films like this. It was also rewarding to see things come full circle for our central characters. Rated: 4/5 Oct 15, 2021 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn This is a very long movie but the performances elevated the material. Damian Chapa tried his best to lead this but there were some poor acting choices he made that threatened to derail the seriousness of the film. Rated: 3/5 Oct 15, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member One of the best movies of all time in my opinion definitely in my top three. Through the tales of loyalty and friendship it offers a roller coaster ride Of emotion. By the end of the movie you yourself will want to be a Vato Loco. VIVA VATOS LOCOS!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/11/24 Full Review Audience Member Quentin Tarantino eat your heart out. This is a great bitter sweet movie about love and hate, trust and betrayal and loss and redemption. A well balanced story of Hispanic life, pride and struggles in East LA in the 80's. The dialogue and characterisations may come across as cliche at first. But keep in mind this was made in 1993 and it doesn't have the sophisticated nuances as some of today's best movies. But if you give it a chance and let yourself see the meanings behind the words, you'll grasp the depth and worth of this underrated epic masterpiece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Lynwood S Some Of The WORST Acting I've EVER seen!
