The script relies on subtext and Ms. Nowlin's expressions to convey her condition. She's up to the task; even in the many silent moments, she's compelling. Go to Full Review

Made with passion, integrity and skill, "Blood Stripe" is American independent filmmaking at its most effective. It takes on a difficult subject and treats it with an honesty that can't help but capture us from start to finish. Go to Full Review

[Kate] Nowlin's performance, however, is a marvel of inner turmoil and physical exertion, as Sarge struggles to contain her destructive impulses or channel them into more productive pursuits. Go to Full Review

An emotionally intense film. . . A strong and well crafted, yet nuanced script, the tacit commentary on PTSD and the lack of proper services and assistance to returning soldiers speaks sensitively and loudly. Go to Full Review

08/22/2020 A very good drama about PTSD with a great lead performance See more 03/27/2020 Amazing is all I can say See more roger g 05/20/2018 A sad story of a vet returning home and not being able to cope with the world away from the military. See more 02/25/2018 Starts off strong and then get s a bit clunky, but it's ambitious, dramatic, and leaves an impression. "Sarge" represents the military "everywoman," a point of view regularly missing in returning-home-from-war movies. But this isn' an in-your-face aftermath; it's a quiet, gentle breakdown. The acting couldn't be finer and were Knowlin famous she would have received an Oscar's nod. I turned it on by chance and was immediately engrossed. The ending is ambiguous and slightly frustrating. The cinematography is spectacular. All the bit players, especially Rusty and Dot, help create a fine, realistic film. See more dude m 02/24/2018 IT'S BORING then the lead character simply drowns herself. See more 11/18/2017 As a mental health therapist/college psychology instructor, I feel this is one of the best films since The Deer Hunter about PTSD/Depression. It is an accurate portrayal of the horrors of this disease and the hypervigilance and paranoia that often accompanies it. The Northern Minnesota setting is wonderful as is the Mason Jennings music. Great job! See more Read all reviews
