J P whaat kind of a deal. phile Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review Jason B Phobe or Phile? Gotta get this down so the boys can do it! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Alexander B This is sadly little more then a rehashing of the first film. The fight choreography and acting is surprisingly a little better then the first film but it lacks the violence of the first film. It also has a very predictable story. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Tony S I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that this movie owes its existence at least partially to the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. Despite being quite catchy, the Rhythm of Kumite song is borderline copyright infringement on a specific theme. The plot tries to replicate the first Bloodsport but with really pointless appendices. Like the stolen trophy sword subplot, Bernhardt was involved in. Absolutely horrible execution. That unwittingly makes the whole Kumite look silly and amateurish. I'd also assume they looked at the other JCVD classic, Kickboxer, and took Xian, crossed him with Miyagi, but gave the actor almost no direction. So James Hong just looks frail and bored. The addition of 'Iron Fist' also points to Mortal Kombat influence, since that move's presentation and explanation really feel like it came from a video game. As it finishes, the Demon in three hits like some power up. It needs to be noted that there is a noticeable absence of JCVD in the editing room. Several scenes make you wonder whether they couldn't figure out how to make it look cohesive or just that no one gave a damn. Like the sword trade in the floating cafe where the entire shoot-out looks like a parody. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/12/22 Full Review Audience Member Awesome film, didn't think it would live up to the first, but it did! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A pure imitation of the first movie right down to the good and bad guy. They tried to make the main character look as much as John Claude Van Damme, and the antagonist as much as the last. The antagonist wasn't intimidating like the first Bloodsport. The movie does focus more on the fighting within the tournament which sounds awesome but really isn't. The last movie had a good balance of both, where this movie just rushed the in between scenes. They were more like cut scenes. As per the fighting, once again it was like watching the first movie. So if you want to watch a poorly done re-make in a way, this movie will do it for you. It was mildly entertaining and I like how they brought back some of the characters from the first like the American "Tiny". Not the worst movie I've seen.
