blur: To The End depicts the most recent chapter in the band's story, captured during the period in which they made a surprise -- and emotional -- return with their first record in 8 years, the critically acclaimed #1 album 'The Ballad of Darren'. The documentary follows the unique relationship of four friends -- and bandmates of three decades -- Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree as they came together in early 2023 to record new songs ahead of their sold-out, first ever shows at London's Wembley Stadium in July last summer. Featuring performances of their most iconic, much-loved songs, footage of the band in the studio and life on the road, blur: To The End is an intimate moment in time with this most enduring of English bands, who have been at the heart of British cultural life and influence for over three decades.

Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) It gets a little bit Spinal Tap-py. Aug 15, 2024 Full Review Sam Davies Sight & Sound Director Toby L takes a straightforward fly-on-the-wall approach – candid, handheld footage, with no cosy talking-head input from collaborators or commentators... There is the feeling of a group willing to let the director test their boundaries. Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Ryan Gilbey Guardian In place of the long-gone messiness that made Starshaped so compelling is a geezerish sentimental sheen, a look-how-far-we’ve-come self-regarding awe, which chimes with the title song but wears thin over 105 minutes rather than three. Rated: 3/5 Jul 17, 2024 Full Review Francesca Steele iNews.co.uk The band that said “modern life is rubbish” 31 years ago are still working out what it all means, and it’s fascinating to watch them. Rated: 5/5 Dec 10, 2024 Full Review Alistair Harkness Scotsman The film certainly proves singularly uninterested in offering any historical context that might help explain where Blur came from musically, why they became as big as they did, and how they've managed to keep evolving creatively. Rated: 2/5 Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Dulcie Pearce The Sun (UK) If this is The End, what a way to go out. Rated: 5/5 Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
