Kyle Smith Wall Street Journal Turning to a rock act for wisdom is ordinarily as likely to result in success as a hunt for fresh produce at Home Depot, but as directed by Toby L, “Blur: To the End” is full of rueful insights broadly applicable far beyond the appeal of the band. Jun 27, 2025 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com This isn’t a film about a band as much as it is a film about old friends leaning on each other in the way they did when they were younger. It’s the only way to reach the well. Rated: 3/4 Jun 25, 2025 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) It gets a little bit Spinal Tap-py. Aug 15, 2024 Full Review Alan Zilberman Spectrum Culture The latest documentary about the legendary Britpop band is a fly-on-the-wall character study, leading to a deeper, more rewarding look at Damon and the guys. Rated: 3/4 Jun 27, 2025 Full Review Ricardo De Querol El Pais (Spain) To the End is more than just a making of: it accompanies the band members in their rehearsals and their conversations, we sneak into their houses, we get to know their hangovers, and we swim with them on cold beaches... Karen I'm a massive Blur fan, but this film is more...Universal. It's a deep like into bandmate and friendship dynamics as we move into middle age. Anyone who enjoys music documentaries and concert films (and views of pretty England on the coast), would enjoy this. In the 90s, I was blessed to see them many times and be invited to a few events. This film captured the real people I met off-stage. It is beautifully filmed and captures intimate and Wembley arena equally. The look behind the scenes into recording and rehearsing is fascinating. Anyone who's gone back to a moment in their past and caught up with old friends with bumpy history would relate. There are very short clips of supporting musicians, but instead of throw away moments, I found some profound (Selector and Damon watching Paul Weller.)
