Al tener una infancia inestable y llena de secretos, Bob se refugio en el alcohol y poco después en las drogas que finalmente fueron su perdición. Su banda Thelonious Monster tuvo un gran éxito, y pudo llegar muy lejos como una estrella de rock, pero su adicción sacó lo mejor de él, y luego de docenas de veces en rehabilitación, logró milagrosamente recuperarse y salir adelante poco a poco. Su vocación se reveló ante él cuando se dió cuenta que podía ayudar a otros que estuvieran pasando por el infierno que él pasó, y hoy en día es uno de los mejores terapeutas y lo que es realmente inspirador es que da una ayuda realista a los adictos, les habla del corazón, de una manera humilde y nunca los degrada. Bob and the Monster es una revelación, y esta increíblemente logrado ya que no omiten ninguna situación por mas dura que sea. Vemos a Bob en sus peores y más bajos momentos, y solo así puede ser mas satisfactorio verlo triunfar y estar en paz luego de tanto tiempo atormentado.
