John Doyle Globe and Mail The doc - made by Brendan J. Byrne and in part by public broadcasters in several countries - is shocking, meaningful and illustrative about terrorism, politics, hate and hope. Feb 28, 2017 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Bobby Sands: 66 Days offers something both for those who've never heard of Sands and those who have his youthful smile etched forever in memory. Dec 1, 2016 Full Review Sam Weisberg Village Voice Byrne never resorts to such cheap tricks as matching the imagery to what the interviewees are saying, and the film is no hagiography. Nov 30, 2016 Full Review Jorge Ignacio Castillo The Canadian Crew The film's insistence in combining all these issues leads to an overstuffed product that bombards the audience with facts that fail to register. Rated: 2/5 Jan 28, 2020 Full Review Niall Browne Movies in Focus Brendan J. Byrne's 66 Days is a well presented look at the ten IRA prisoners who went on hunger strike in 1981. Rated: 4/5 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Matthew Bond The Mail on Sunday (UK) I'm not sure Bobby Sands: 66 Days really does enough to justify a theatrical release. Gareth v What ever you think of Bobby Sands and "the Troubles" in Northern Ireland, this is an insightful doco into more than just the man. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Movie evening with Iris. Entertaining documentary which tells the tale of the Troubles from Easter Uprising to Good Friday Agreement. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member At times it plays out like a propaganda piece but overall it is an excellent documentary and at times emotional. The film tends to tie things up a but too quickly. Overall enjoyable but it will depends what set of glasses you have on when you watch it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review dave d There's a lot to be learned from 'Bobby Sands: 66 Days' and the documentarian takes a look at both sides of a conflict that led to an untimely death and analyzes whether it was worth it. He lets the viewer be the judge in what is a refreshing style. Whether you think Sands was a martyr or a criminal or somewhere in between the film brings context to the Northern Ireland conflict. Despite being a little too talking heady for my taste, it's worthwhile for a watch if you're interested in European history. Final Score 6.8/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrible film. The equivalent of creating a documentary glorifying Osama Bin Ladin. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Great insight into a man that choose to end his life for the publicization of the Republican cause.
