Nurse Carol Dwyer (Margot Kidder) is devoted to her new husband, forensic pathologist Alex (Barry Bostwick). For his current case, Alex frequently works late with police detective Evan Campbell (Tony Lo Bianco) to find a rapist and murderer who has been terrorizing their suburban community for nine months. As the bodies continue piling up at her hospital, Carol begins to share her daughter's suspicions that there may be something wrong with her seemingly mild-mannered spouse.
