This is not primarily a Donnie Yen film. It is an ensemble cast. There is nothing wrong with that, but the film was sold to me as a Donnie Yen film. Don't get those hopes up.

Meme s'il prend un peu trop de temps a exposer son intrigue, qui pourra paraitre un peu compliquee pour des non-inities a l'histoire de Hong Kong, Bodyguards and Assassins peut s'appuyer sur un second acte tres reussi, grace a la mise en scene de Teddy Chan, capable d'orchestrer des combats impressionnants (Donnie Yen vs Cung Le!) aux enjeux dramatiques d'une efficacite redoutable. Nicholas Tse est incroyable.

Not your typical HK films as this one has a a pretty good story line and is a period piece. Of course the action is top notch, but you'll have to wait till the end to catch it. Really good character builder, you truly seemed to care what happens to these guys.
