Critics Consensus

Bolt is a pleasant animated comedy that overcomes the story's familiarity with strong visuals and likable characters.

The jokes aren't a match for Pixar's best, and there's too much sentimentality (as if Lasseter were determined to keep Disney's cartoons just that little bit less cool than Pixar's), but this is still an above-average children's film. Go to Full Review

The plot is sentimental fluff. But this has energy and invention enough to keep Lasseter top of the heap. Go to Full Review

Clearly, Disney animators have taken a few notes from their Pixar pals. Go to Full Review

Bolt is one of the rare modern Disney films where everything truly comes together. Even with a simpler concept and a distractingly rough first joke, the film quickly pulls itself together to deliver a heartfelt and worthy viewing experience. Go to Full Review

Despite its treatment of cats as the Rodney Dangerfield of the animal kingdom - they just can't get no respect - is solid entertainment for the whole family. Go to Full Review

Samuel C @RannyManny 2d While im biased since it was a childhood movie i rewatched it recently and honestly im SO happy its still just as good as when it first released. See more Leaburn O Dec 12 Exceeded my expectations. Actually found this one fun, even funny in places and quite heartwarming. A nice entry from Disney, largely forgotten but somewhat underrated. Watched on DVD. See more thiago s @Thiagostone Nov 28 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Noe G Nov 10 Bolt is an amazing Disney, animated film And my rating is a 10/10 See more Blu B Oct 21 A Disney Classic. Animation is really good. I really like Bolt's design and it's got some creative scenes. Travolta is really good as Bolt also. The editing si really good also. This is an animated adventure mixed with a road movie. The general idea borrows a lot from Homeward Bound. Everything else is pretty solid. I do wish most of the film was Mittens & Bolt together. Rhino isn't bad but...he gets annoying a bit at first and the more it goes the more I just got annoyed with him as the comedic relief. He definetly drags things down and is kind of like Jar Jar for me. Finally, the other big issue is it's very predictable. Like it hits every beat you'd expect, no suprises, happy ending, bing bam boom. That's not a bad thing but it just feels like it just starts to hum along in the second half. The first half is stronger honestly I think. But overall it's a fun well done time. If Rhino wasn't there this would be a significant step up. But anyone who is a fan fo the director, any voice actors here, or Walt Disney animated flicks, or a family movie should check this out.
