Diego and Sage have fallen into a romantic rut despite the fact that Diego has recently quit his job to focus on writing an acclaimed erotic romance novel. Sole breadwinner Sage finds herself increasingly frustrated in the bedroom and resentful of her role as the supportive partner. In an effort to reconnect, they rent a scenic lakeside property for the weekend on the aptly named Bone Lake. Their plans for an intimate weekend are quickly derailed when another couple, Will and Cin, unexpectedly arrive. Realizing the property has been mistakenly double-booked, the two couples tepidly agree to share the space and make the most of their weekend together. What starts promisingly as friendship soon transforms into a twisted series of sex and lies and their idyllic weekend quickly spirals downward in a torrent of orgiastic violence.

Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com A film that feels like a European relationship drama for about an hour before exploding in remarkably bloody chaos. Sep 27, 2024 Full Review Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Bone Lake is wickedly fun rather than measuredly incisive. Sep 26, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It delivers the necessary salacious entertainment as a throwback to the trashy 80s thrillers without becoming trashy. Rated: B+ Nov 24, 2024 Full Review Andrew Mack ScreenAnarchy One of the most satisfying finales I've seen this year. ... Gets crazy but not over the top and is capped off with some fantastic gore. It is a real payoff for what has been a slick, quietly stylish thriller that goes full horror through the finish line. Oct 30, 2024 Full Review Erik Childress Movie Madness Podcast The characters, while nicely drawn, spend a little too much time explaining everything that’s happening in the middle act, but the setup is solid and it delivers handily in its climax. Rated: 3/4 Oct 17, 2024 Full Review Jonathan DeHaan Nightmare on Film Street Bone Lake might not blow minds but it’s a seductive piece of cinema that takes an average thriller and slowly cranks up the crazy.
