See more 03/13/2017 The Boogens is actually a really good slasher-style movie from the 80's. Miners open up a old mine and release these carnivorous creatures that have been dormant for years. People die horrifically, and we get some great characters. The characters in this story are real people. They act like real people act, are likable, and are fun. The setting of the mine is claustrophobic and disorientating. The only real letdown is the reveal of the creatures themselves. They are just rubber things and the sound of growls laid over top.
