Audience Member a melancholy slow burn. enjoyable. excellently acted and directed. the main character had so much depth and complexity, just like we do. fiction but so real. amongst everything happening protagonist has an adorable relationship with another of his kind, our kind. watch this movie, but not if you have expectations. watch it late at night when all is quiet. sink in and you will learn about humanity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/30/18 Full Review Audience Member Their is a commonly used phrase "blood is thicker than water" when it comes to one's devotion to family members over friendships. But there are always exceptions to the rules. Simon (Nico Stone) is a endearing young man, relied upon to help his family members in need, which requires him to commit larceny on a daily basis. His self-serving brother Sean gets arrested and needs to be bailed out, his uncle Harold (Seymour Cassell) who abandoned his own family is in failing health as well as his grandmother. Nico is not a carrer criminal but receives unrelenting pressure to assist his family members as they question his devotion in the process. Outside of the ailing grandmother, he has been used and mistreated by those closest to him for years. That's what makes Simon's life altering decision so difficult. Does he go through this string of robberies, sacrificing his own life and future, for these people who have used him as a pawn only to benefit themselves. "Booster" has a thin storyline centered around an unappealing dysfunctional family that is impossible to feel sympathy for. Nico Stone's performance is the only reason that keeps this movie watchable. That being said, there are always exceptions to the rule -- and "Booster" is that exception. Simon (Nico Stone) is an endearing young man, relied upon to help his family members in need. His self-serving brother Sean is arrested and needs bailed out, his uncle Harold (Seymour Cassell) who abandoned his own family is in failing health along with his grandmother. Nico is not a career criminal but receives unrelenting pressure to help and assist his family members through armed robberies while they question his devotion in the process. Throughout most of its brief time span, the movie shifts between Simon's hazily defined underworld activities and his improbable budding romance with a sales clerk (Kristen Dougherty) who spots him shoplifting at her store. The movie generates some slow-simmering suspense as Stone subtly conveys Simon's immobilizing frustration. Nico Stone's performance is really the only reason that keeps this movie mildly compelling."Booster" has a pretty thin story centered around an unappealing dysfunctional family that is impossible to feel sympathy for. Ultimately, "Booster" doesn't do a whole lot, and it could almost survive with its plot completely removed.
