A bodyguard protects a pop superstar and her athlete boyfriend from a determined stalker in 1990s Los Angeles. Pros: Dark comedy stalker/home in asion movie. Samara Weaving is great as always. Really fun performance from Ray Nicholson who chews up every scene he is in. Surprise performance goes out to Alba Baptista who is hilarious. Funny dark humor and surprisingly violent. The third act had me rolling. Cons: Takes a little too long to get going. Nothing really new done here.

Good acting from everyone could not save the problematic tonal shifts. The movie is trying to be an unhinged high-jinx comedy but it gets lost along the way. The writer-director has some talent and should sharpen its efforts. I’m sure he will come back with something better. My favorite part was the musical cop, played by Matthew Del Bel Belluz. That part made me chuckle.
