Jason Flatt But Why Tho? A Geek Community The best thing Boxer (2024) has going is the fact that underneath the predictable formula, there still is an interesting story about immigration. Rated: 6.5/10 Sep 16, 2024 Full Review John Serba Decider Not a knockout. Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Daniel Hart Ready Steady Cut It’s not the rags-to-riches stories that you expect the movie to be. Boxer gives a premise with the hopes of a Rocky franchise, but it’s surprisingly way more serious and grim. P W There cant be another Rocky, but this is another angle on a different story that happened in Europe. Very well played emotions, and actors' work. It has substance, not just plain Hollywood boxing movie. It will resonate well with those who witnessed similar changes in their countries. Must say it took my attention with all the proper details and psychological state changes that one expects in such life situation. Past, modern, relatable. Make up and clothing worked very strong. I believed it all. Perhaps a stronger resolution at the end was needed to leave some print on viewers mind – either mega positive or negative, but that's up to the writer. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Angie M It captures the essence of immigrating, the nuances of how immigrants are perceived with limited English skill and the cultural difference of the open exuberance of the Polish people vs the Reserved nature of the English. The blending of the Polish and English language is spot on as well, the longer immigrants stayed outside of the county the more blended the two language became in conversation. You really have had to live though the experience to re-live the experience thought this movie. Worth seeing 100% Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
