Joe Cohen Variety This film is predominantly musical with a cliched, makeshift plot. Feb 1, 2021 Full Review Film Daily Staff The Film Daily Weak spots in the pix are partially made up for by the music. Feb 1, 2021 Full Review Mandel Herbstman Motion Picture Daily A generous offering of melodious tidbits are served in [Boy! What a Girl!]... A good deal of comedy and clowning are also thrown in, and as a special attraction, Gene Krupa makes a guest star appearance. Feb 1, 2021 Full Review Nick Davis Nick's Flick Picks Brief, giddy musical showcasing African-American comics, singers, and musicians to total, charming advantage. Denny S Made for showing in primarily black neighborhood theatres, the film is full of talented performers who are quite entertaining. Of note is the appearance of Tim Moore, who later played George "Kingfish" Stevens on the TV version of Amos and Andy. He is a bit heavier here (they must have told him to lose weight for the Amos and Andy Show) but he is sharp as a tack with snappy delivery and great timing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazingly clever, the music is incredible, and the dialog as witty as they come.
