Bill Skarsgård stars as "Boy" who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Yayan Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and blood-letting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.

Unhinged, stylish and utterly gory with impressive and exciting fight styles. There are a lot of unexplained or glanced over plot-holes, you kind of need to turn your brain off for this one and just enjoy the ass-kicking and ridiculous foolery.

Bloody & violent with dark humor sprinkled in. The only reason it’s 1/2 a star shy is because the violence is so graphic that it’s borderline disturbing. But, Bill’s performance was absolutely 5/5!

This is a perfect movie to watch if you just want to check out of reality and not think too hard for2 hours. Fantastic (albeit slightly long at times) action sequences. Great effects and cinematography. Would recommend.

This movie is easily in my top five favorite movies of all time. Bill Skarsgård is phenomenal. His ability to convey every emotion without ever uttering a single word is truly impressive. The fight scenes are next level. You laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll root for the underdog. What more do you fkn need? Go watch it!

This movie really leaned too much into the idea of using hyper-stylish action and camera work to do the heavy lifting with the story only being used to get to the next action set piece. The two side characters of the Boy were both annoying and awful. Some of the humor felt really forced. To it's credit the fight scenes were pretty good.
