Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times Peirone's first feature is marked by a daring style and a willingness to dive deeply into the darker psychology of female friendship. A uniquely feminine horror film, "Braid" is a bold debut worth watching. Feb 6, 2019 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com I came away feeling that I'd seen, if not a major film, then a film by major talents. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 1, 2019 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Braid ultimately offers far more style than substance. But it provides many memorable moments and stunning visuals along the way, making it a cinematic ride worth experiencing for more adventurous viewers. christina b I know many people won’t like it but I give it 5 stars. It’s my kind of film, trippy, fever dream, not knowing what’s real and what’s not… like living in a fantasy world on hallucinogenic I loved the vibe and the visuals Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Audience Member Wild ride that just gets wilder as it goes, all the way to the end. Could have benefitted from a more fleshed out script and longer duration, as well as more funding / production value. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Jonathan C I watched about half an hour of this. I liked the premise so I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, the description is about all this film has going for it. The execution is a little too straightforward while also being nonsensical. Colorful and all that, but the connection between the three characters is not established, it just seemingly occurs randomly and they're for some reason putting up with brutality of various sorts because they somehow think they can steal her money... and that's pretty much the only thing that can be said about the first half hour give or take.. There's nothing visionary about the presentation, it's just a couple of people being humiliated, and some jittery camera work with a couple shroom-out scenes interspersed. I guess for some people that's enough to justify the time spent on this. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Steve S Some great looking shots, intriguing enough to keep you wondering what's gonna happen...but nothing does, at least nothing that makes sense. Expensive student film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/23 Full Review Tyler B Just hope you never have friends like this. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/23 Full Review Hugo S Two young women decide to steal the inheritance of their childhood friend, a psychotic heiress living in a secluded mansion. In order to succeed they must take part in a dangerous game of make-believe. The fantasy escalates in violence and bloodshed, trapping everyone inside a spiral of madness. "Braid" delivers beautiful visuals and a trippy ride inside the psychedelic minds of these girls. An interesting piece of art house horror.
