Four men are sentenced to hang in the small town of Rio Arriba, and Jim Douglass (Gregory Peck) is glad to see it happen. Jim believes the men murdered his wife and wants them to suffer. However, things go awry when the convicts escape from jail, kidnapping young Emma (Kathleen Gallant) as they gallop out of town. A search party forms with Jim in the lead, especially intent on catching them. He encounters each villain individually, growing closer to rescuing Emma and exacting his revenge.

Provavelmente e infelizmente, um retrato fidedigno da figura feminina durante o faroeste, vistas como objeto, seres inferiores, e quase sempre vítimas da violência, quando alguma se sobressai corajosamente é desabonada, mas o amor e espirito de vingança de um pai e marido que me cativou, de assassino sanguinário a cristão arrependido, e um plot twist bem inesperado, que fez tanto sentido quando foi adorável… Muito bom, envelheceu com saúde, principalmente pela colorização, criativo e convincente

Visually stunning and rather original. Well acted by a solid cast. Poor Joan was so reliable and professional that you could put her in any dreck and she would make it work or even turn it into a cult hit. Here she's lovely and very appealing in her best American accent, and you just wish there was more of her.
