Bad things often happen in prisons, but especially bad things happen in Cell Block 99. The final act is graphic and violent. To some, the violence might seem to be gratuitous, but it's a necessary element of the story. The title promises a brawl, so it would be lame if there wasn't one, right?

Incredibly intense and worth watching Vaughn go outside his skin. The public reviewers mostly understand the reasoning behind the psychotic-like character wreaking revenge. It is slow for a reason. Stick with it and get rewarded with a very well written and unique screenplay. Highly original. I was engaged to the very end. It is not just horror. It is the penal system taking the beating. Watch for a brilliant character study between splayed fingers over your eyes. In this case read the professional critics' reviews. They finally get it right.
