Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/22 Full Review Marie R An intense and easy to watch movie, with a simple plot line but without the over-explaining common to American ones. A beautifully shot style, France encapsulated in one old hotel. Interesting characters with fiery chemistry and inspiring dance. I would definitely recommend and be tempted to watch again to take in all its richness. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/08/22 Full Review Audience Member I *love* dance movies - but several times during this one, I impatiently fast-forwarded through plodding, stiff character scenes to watch the dance scenes on their own; then was even more disappointed when I realized that the dance scenes are also plodding and stiff (save the breakdance battle; that was great and was the only part of the movie where I felt there was any heart or dynamism). I didn't care about the characters, or what happened to them. The female lead is good-looking and dances well, but there is so little heart in her performance that I found myself bored and fidgety while watching (I found the male lead a more interesting character and a more dynamic actor). The pace of the film is needlessly slow and over-romanticized, and lacking in the energy, power and authentic emotion of dance. Eager to reach the end, I hoped for the final dance scene would live up to expectation and make up for my lost time. But again - thud. At least it took place in Paris. Barbara Shulgasser Common Sense Media Young dancers face challenges; language, drinking. Rated: 3/5 Jan 14, 2021 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation The dance, with its aerial component, is lovely. But it isn't enough to render a movie with no surprises into something worth your time. Rated: 1.5/4 Dec 13, 2020 Full Review Johnny Loftus Decider Its cast of young actors are a compelling, diverse group with a natural chemistry that keeps you invested over its more formulaic stretches.
