Cath Clarke Guardian [A] solidly acted but underwhelming post-apocalyptic thriller. Rated: 2/5 May 14, 2024 Full Review A.A. Dowd IGN Movies The movie feels pared down to a fault, resolving its conflicts too quickly and failing to ever take the shape of a coherent allegory. It’s proof that shorter isn’t always better, even in the realm of self-contained genre fare. Rated: 5/10 Apr 29, 2024 Full Review John Serba Decider Just as the lack of air will kill a person, the lack of sense will kill a movie. Sep 11, 2024 Full Review Cris Kennedy Inner East Review It's a pity the screenplay by Doug Simon doesn't quite get the tone right, spending a lot of time establishing the supportive family environment when we can all see what's coming a mile off. Rated: 2/5 Aug 20, 2024 Full Review Tara McNamara Common Sense Media But while the movie's concept is solid and the cinematography is rich, something is off. May 17, 2024 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …Breathe’s intense sci-fi stand-off shows Milla Jovovich’s considerable acting chops to good effect… Rated: 3/5 May 13, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

PeppDigital M It was hard to believe any of the actors. I mean I tried to really believe they were in a post apocalyptic world…but the acting, the set up, and STORY….. didn’t pan. The bunker set design and its workings and sound design 45% Good cinematography and sound Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review Dan R I've a lot of time for apocalyptic movies but with this sub genre you have to take the good with the bad. 2024's 'Breathe' sits firmly in the bad category. SYNOPSIS: 'A mother and daughter, barely surviving in an oxygen-less world, must band together to protect each other when intruders arrive claiming to know their missing father.' Milla Jovovich is pretty much terrible in everything she's in. Jennifer Hudson can't act. And that's just the start of this film's problems. The poor writing here is the film's biggest problem. It's just dire. It is easy to accept Earth is still and lifeless, but why the world looks like it's been through a war makes no sense considering the exposition dump at the start of the movie. Nothing makes any sense. The acting is lame and the film looks cheap. It's terrible. Avoid. 1/10 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Odell L If anybody’s taking a flight soon and want a movie to piss yourself off, look no further than this trash ass movie. I knew when I saw Jennifer Hudson and Common it was going to be bad, but damn, man. How are “scientists” in the movie going to say the atmospheric O2 concentration went from 27% to 5% when it’s only 21% to begin with? If it went down to 5%, what was it replaced with? All the plant life died, but how? Did the O2 thing cause them to die, or did them dying cause the O2 depletion? First of all, plants don’t use O2, they give off O2. Was all the O2 displaced by CO2 from all the plants dying at once? Why wasn’t the weather completely fucked if there’s so much greenhouse gas in the atmosphere that it displaced almost all of the oxygen? Global temps would skyrocket and these mfs wouldn’t even be able to go outside. Atmospheric nonsense aside, these mfs somehow had a 3 series BMW they keep charged, but then they start the engine to drive it, but how tf is the engine running if there’s almost no O2? And how is the fuel still stable after 3 years? Whoever wrote this movie needs to be locked up. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review EllaJo r Horrible acting, really disappointed in the way it all played out. I feel like no one put any real effort into this movie.
