Another film from 50 SciFi Classics. With a decent cast like Raymond Burr & Lon Chaney, Jr., this was an ok movie. The plot was silly as can be seen from the title. Very campy.

Short low-budget copy of the type of movie Val Lewton and Jacques Tourneur pioneered. Elements of Cat People, I Walked with a Zombie and Wolf Man, not least because Tom Conway and Lon Chaney Jr (strangely cast as a boring police chief) feature. There's also a bonkers old gypsy woman who can't act. None of it is particularly memorable, but it passes the time.

Barbara Payton was very good at playing the Damsel in Distress, as well as the Femme Fatale. Otherwise, aside from the doctor suffering from unrequited love, poor story and acting.
