Audience Member This is a tender, topsy-turvy and comprehensive documentary that details the launch of the first ever co-ethnic (Arab and Jew) school in Israel. It is tender because of how intimate we get to the subjects - primary aged children, teachers, parents and grandparents. It is topsy-turvy because it is optimistic one minute and even more pessimistic the next. It is comprehensive because through the words and deeds of the visionaries who are building and attending this school, every aspect of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is played out. The film-makers, brothers from the political left, whose Zionist father questioned on seeing this film whether his boys were Arab or Jew, have provided a vital, human, plain language insight to one of the world's most intractable and important conflicts. For example, the bilingual school - which teaches an equal proportion of Jewish and Arab kids and has an Arab and a Jewish teacher in each class - is tested to its limit when Israel's independence day is celebrated, which is also Palestinians' 'Catastrophe day' In one room Jews celebrate and in another Arabs cry. However, despite such tensions, the school still stands four years on and has three sister schools across Israel. There are scenes in this documentary that will etch into your memory for years.
