Audience Member "I would like to win the Pulitzer Prize. I would like to win the Nobel Prize. I would like to win a Tony award for the Broadway musical I'm now working on. Aside from these, my aspirations are modest ones." --- Evan Hunter , American author and screenwriter. What is as awesome as a live Broadway show? A six-part documentary on the history on Broadway! Okay maybe not as awesome, but still pretty good to watch. This truly was a great documentary spanning throughtout centuries, starting from its the inception all the way up to the modern day Broadway musicals, highlighting the best and brightests talents (Ethel Merman, Fred Astaire, Ethel Waters, Gene Kelly) that have ever graced the stage, the creative minds behind every memorable song and production (Gershwin, Berlin, Rodgers, Porter), plus how Broadway both drew inspiration from real life events and its influence on society. Highly education, very entertaining and altogether ubber cool! Two thumbs way up!!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member It just does not get any better. I wept watching Paul Robeson, Helen Morgan, Fanny Brice, George M. Cohan ... If you love theater, you MUST see this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent! I watched all 6 episodes in one day. Granted, I began college as a theatre major and am really into musicals, but I learned quite a few neat facts I wasn't aware of, and loved not only the story-telling itself, but the footage with all the familiar songs and dances and theatre nerd will enjoy. :) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Splendid. I really liked all of the old archive footage. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member For those true fans of American Broadway shows this is a must see. A must see for all B'dway musical aficonados. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
