John A Very amateur production about on a high school project level especially when considering other movies actors such as Harvey Keitel are normally in. Mr Keitel was only in a few scenes probably shot in a day. Unfortunately this movie literally makes no sense, a complete waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Starts out with some quirky promise but quickly devolves into a very poor “Carlito’s Way” / “Scarface” knock off (no disrespect intended to those great movies by mentioning them in the same sentence as this one). I watched it through the end hoping for some reasonable payoff but the ending was way too cheap to have justified the time. How a legend like Harvey Keitel gets involved in this is beyond me but his name did bait me into giving this a watch. Think of it like I did you a favor - I took one for the team and so you don’t have to sit through it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/22 Full Review Audience Member Not very well acted. The cinematography is really bad Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is way better than it is being given credit for. If you like gangster movies it has it all. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member First we take Brooklyn feels like a really really poor man’s scar face. The movie falls to a similar story with an average script and average acting. Nothing about the film is all that surprising except for the awful ending that just pretty much ends of the film. That right there took a star away from the film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/20 Full Review victor o Cool! This is a great movie, but it has to be said that this movie feels a lot like Scarface only set within the confines of a Jewish mob in Brooklyn. Mikki (Danny Abeckaser), a recently released Israeli murderer finds a new life for himself in America with family attempting to find him a job. But there's a problem. Mikki has a terrible temper, as it's what got him sent to prison for killing a man in the first place. His new neighborhood, particularly the bar that he attempts to find work is a place to keep your cool. But not Mikki, prison taught him to never back down, as he works at the bar getting a small job, but it's run by a local mobster named Avi (Guri Weinberg). Mikki with his time in prison makes it clear he's eager to work for him in "the business" as he also catches the eye of a lovely barmaid named Esther (AnnaLynne McCord). But the competition in the syndicate Avi runs is fierce, as he's beholden to negotiate from time to time with a Russian gangster, Anatoly (Harvey Keitel) and his minions. Mikki, however, is not a negotiator, but a ferocious killer and as he delves into helping Avi deal with his Russian competitors that he either kills or intimidates into submission. All the while Mikki ends up running Avi's operation, making him money as well as providing for himself and Esther. While this is a good movie and I think the actors are exceptional in their roles, the comparisons to Scarface are pretty obvious. Mikki is the tough guy like Tony Montana but he's very low key, he doesn't imbibe on his product and there is no "little friend" to say hello to. Esther is the loyal girlfriend and not the trashy trophy wife like Elvira. But Anatoly is very much like Omar and of course, the treachery that comes upon Mikki, in the end, is set up because he brought it upon himself. Both characters tempers due them in. A great movie, if not entirely original. Modest acting and decent story-telling. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
