Haylie W Cringy dialog and overdone acting that feels like it was written by a seven year old. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Audience Member Hahahaha! Such a funny film! With references from the movie RAD, which I must have watched 150 times as a kid to the walkie talkies! Omg, this film deserves many more five star ratings! The cast were great and Josh Groban did an incredible job! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Hmm. Well, this was just one big hot mess wasn't it?? I can see why our female viewers/feminists would have been highly offended with the sexual innuendo and exploitation of the female body and persona displayed in this picture. The entire film was just so incredibly unbalanced. Definitely ANOTHER disappointment. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member watchable but not that interesting Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Pervasive language that wasnt even appropriate for the genre. The acting was below stiff and horrendous. Please save us & cut it all out! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member 90's Nostalgia Effect Doesn't Save "Bulletproof 2" from Being Unwatchable: Before I start picking this film apart, I want to preface by saying I loved 90's action comedies better than anyone growing up. Whether they were good or bad I loved them all. From the good ones like Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's "Bad Boys" to the terrible ones like Eddie Murphy's "Metro". I unlike most people enjoyed "Bulletproof" the original film. That is why this terrible sequel burns more for me than most. If you haven't seen or heard of "Bulletproof", it was a 1996 action comedy starring Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler. Archie (Sandler) and Jack (Wayans) end their friendship, when Jack turns out to be an undercover cop. the two are forced to work together when Jack is assigned to protect Archie as a witness. "Bulletproof 2" takes place 25 years after the original film. Jack is now working as a Special Agent with a mission to take down a powerful South African crime family. The officer begrudgingly goes undercover once again, this time taking the identity of Archie. When a deal goes bad, Jack must find the real Archie to protect him and together, take down the most powerful crime family in South Africa. The first major problem with this film is the casting choices. I understand that 25 years later it may be hard to get Adam Sandler and Damon Wayans to reprise roles of a movie that they probably wish they never did. That being said, Faison Love (Jack) and Kirk Fox (Archie) have no chemistry, and also bear little resemblance to the original duo. Both Actors are far from leading men status and it shows throughout the film. A way that the filmmakers get away with this questionable and some might say terrible casting decision is by acknowledging the first films existence. "Bulletproof" the movie exists in the "Bulletproof 2" world. It is a movie based on these two men. Jack even makes a comment in the film saying, "that terrible movie they made about us". And Archie says something along the lines of "They made me Jewish". Obviously implying he doesn't like the casting choice of Sandler playing him. Despite this somewhat creative ploy, it still does not save the lack of chemistry that the original duo had. Besides the casting the two films are by far drastically different in story and the way it is shot. "Bulletproof 2" is way more sexualized. A lot more nudity and focusing on both actors' sexual frustrations. It almost seemed unneeded and the director felt almost apologetic for making such terrible content, so he added a lot more nude scenes to make it more visually appealing. I feel the marketing for this film tries to pull on the "nostalgia effect". The "Nostalgia Effect" is bringing back something from your childhood, whether it's a movie, tv show or game. So, us 30 somethings see anything 90's related and we jump because of the feeling it gives us to remember what its like to be a kid again. But the problem is these things rarely have any substance and all and all its just a gimmick. But even if you factor in the nostalgia effect "Bulletproof 2" recalls very little to the original film. It is almost like watching two different unrelated films. The film is shot a lot faster, and yes some of the action sequences out do the original film it is almost trying to rush and be done with before the viewer realizes how terrible the movie is. Hollywood seems to be having a lack of original content, hence the constant sequels and reboots. But this was a film that not many people watched or enjoyed. And the few fanboys that did, myself included, deserved better than "Bulletproof 2". Hopefully filmmakers think twice before making a 25 year old sequel from another 90's film in an attempt to cash in on the nostalgia effect.
