Audience Member Director Steve Doughton has created a uniquely subtle yet entirely engrossing film that defies simple description. This film would never have been made if it depended on a one sentence pitch - "Woman talks to her estranged brother on the phone while going about mundane chores in her otherwise empty apartment". However - the performances by both actors, only one on-screen, and the depth of character development and revelation written into the script make this much more than the sum of it's minimalist parts. The addition of a well crafted visual design that locks frames for Tina Holmes to inhabit and explore, rather than relying on the usual establish - medium - closeup editing technique to lead the viewer's attention, places the viewer in an active position as third party to the conversation. All of which is to say that this unusual and thought provoking film should not be missed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
