Edward Porter Times (UK) Alison Grist's documentary is a history of the theatrical art of burlesque. Rated: 3/5 Mar 19, 2010 Full Review Liz Moody Empire Magazine Peeping behind the curtain seems a little inappropriate in the world of Burlesque, but this is a charming introduction the art form. Rated: 3/5 Jan 22, 2010 Full Review Ben Walters Time Out Overall, this is a solid if scattershot primer on a scene that seems here to stay. Rated: 3/5 Jan 22, 2010 Full Review Tom Dawson Total Film That Blaize is also the producer might explain the absence of any dissenting voices in a work which seems happy to act as a cheerleader for her career. Rated: 2/5 Jan 22, 2010 Full Review Sloan Freer Radio Times Grist's attempts to dissect the subject actually take away its sparkle, scarcely doing justice to the talents featured, and making even Blaize's most elaborate routines feel rather flat and unerotic. Rated: 2/5 Jan 22, 2010 Full Review Allan Hunter Daily Express (UK) Immodesty Blaize goes behind the tassels and sequins to discover the appeal and comes to the far-from-earth-shattering conclusion that it's all about harmless fantasy. Audience Member A well made film about the world of Burlesque. Some of the turns linger on a little long and dont really work on a small screen and you dont really get to know alot more than we know already but its interesting enough Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This was on HBO or Showtime recently allowing a Peep Show Peep through the Feather Curtain(so to speak), it's really quite a beautiful Art Form.Immodesty Blaze(Name inspired after one of my favorite Cult Spy Spoof Flicks~Modesty Blaize) is in my opinion more Beautiful & Glam than Dita Von Teese.Yes, it's unapologetically Sensual, but in a Elegant, Yesteryear Sort of Way that harkens back to the tease of Gypsy Rose Lee that leaves something to the imagination. Rather than being Vulgar,it's Soft & Feminine & not offensive to Women.Lovely to Look at, Splendiferous! Immodesty Blaise & friends let you peek behind the Tabu, into their world , they can also can be friended on Facebook Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A tad sycophantic (the producer is the main star after all) and it lacks any real insight beyond the visual, but it is fairly entertaining look at Burlesque. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty much what you'd expect. Great acting? Uh...no. Big show biz visuals amd music, yes. Glad I went to see but would only recommend to big time Cher and Christina fans. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Hmmmm. Not great. A documentary about burlesque and the history of burlesque. Saved by some Immodesty Blaize performances Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Such a well done documentary! A REAL BURLESQUE MOVIE!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
