Audience Member Both my favorite chinese characters Fong Sai Yuk and Hong Hei Kwun ever played by Jet Li and now they both meet up and fight with the Government in hell who could use painting to kill people? Intense fight sequence and Director Ringo Lam's unique direction is certainly the main-force.A bit too much on Jokes and romance, balanced it,I'm sure a better result will come since the atmosphere is dark enough already.Sadly, this is the only martial arts film that Director Ringo directs,he should sign to direct more films like this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review dave j Thursday, June 14, 2012 (1994) Burning Paradise (In Chinese with English subtitles) ACTION/ HISTORICAL FICTION/ COMEDY Another 'Fong Sai Yuk' period period piece whereas most of the action takes place in the "Red Lotus Temple" similar to tombs the Indiana Jones does his adventures in except that the person who lives in this one pretty much may also be the one who build and designed it. Anyways, cult martial art figure baddie has main objective was to capture and destroy all the Shaolin Temples before making their pupils/ students to work as slaves for the "Red Lotus Temple" showcasing folk lore hero Fong Sai-yuk at beginning stages attempting to run away from being captured along with his Shaolin teacher but are eventually captured. Wires was used for the fights at the early stages but not so much as the film progresses. 3 out of 4 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Fantastic mix of gore and martial arts. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Another surprisingly well-done and unknown action masterpiece of Hong Kong. Produced by Hark Tsui and directed by Ringo Lam. Featuring Sai-Yuk Fong, which is the character Jet Li played in "The Legend" (1993), as the hero. It describes the battle between survivors of Shaolin Temple and the local ruler in a temple, which is full of sexuality, violence, blood, and many other things which emotionally grabs audiences' interests. Even though there is no famous actors in the film, Lam's technique of making action film like a (good) Japanese comic book is in full force here as in his "Full Contact" (1992). It sometimes looks really absurd, but still, it is the film which has all the attractions of Hong Kong action films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best martial arts films EVER made. Ringo Lam at his finest.
