S. James Snyder Time Out [Director] Schmitt wisely allows the images to speak loudest -- a silent, sobering portrait of what happens after the well dries up. Rated: 4/5 Jul 23, 2009 Full Review Eric Monder Hollywood Reporter Lee Anne Schmitt's simultaneously haunting and tiresome documentary is like a New Age western with its fond look backward and harsh criticism of the present. Audience Member Beautiful and gently moving â" a glance at the disappearing company towns of middle-California. I saw Schmitt give a post-screening Viennale Q&A and thought there was no better comment on it than her own, "I mean, it's tedious, but not too tedious." It's slow, patient, and resigned. A fitting tribute to these long-gone places previously full of life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
