Loved the story, loved the photography, loved the acting and loved that much of it was filmed in my home town Morro Bay, Ca. The scenes in our fishing village are captured beautifully. Loved the music as well! Beau Bridges is perfect in this role. This movie is a treasure, wish more like it were made these days! Hoping to own this in DVD when available. Adolescent actor Miguel Gabriel's freshman outing as a schoolboy who quite literally has no voice, in juxtaposition with the veteran American treasure, Beau Bridges, who snarls and gripes with affection, packs a punch and reminds us all that when we pay it forward, it is the receiver of the friendship who winds up teaching the supposed master lessons about ourselves we have often forgotten. This film is beautifully shot, directed, and acted, with the ever-wonderful Beau Bridges and the young star Miguel Gabriel playing Oscar, who Bridges' character Eric befriends and mentors. There were excellent performances all around and believable characters with relationships and conflicts that get under the skin. I cried my eyes out.
