Eric Henderson Slant Magazine With Camille 2000, Metzger began to let his experimental impulses emerge. Rated: 3.5/4 Nov 30, 2004 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times According to a press release here on my desk, Radley Metzger has seen John Huston's The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 103 times. That was not enough. Rated: 1/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Dilys Powell Sunday Times (UK) Let me just say that Dumas' story has been reduced to an interminable exercise in bed, and leave it at that. David F With very good production values and a high minded literary adaptation, this softcore European love story respectfully and fashionably scratches an erotic itch. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Inanna T The movie runs way too long. The sex scenes don't ad any meaning or substance to the story line. Beautyfull actors, scenery and costuming. The music of the movie was really great. Not worth two hours though. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Empty-headed, soft-porn remake of CAMILLE which - at 115 minutes - is way too long. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Radley Metzger's modern, erotic take on "La Dame aux Camélias" by Alexander Dumas, fils is a really gorgeous, slick and fairly faithful adaptation of the material that really only suffers from the fact that it needs some interminably long and dull sex scenes to fulfill it's duties as erotica. There's a fairly wonderful S&M prison-themed party scene that is probably the highlight of the film. Otherwise, the erotic sequences are pretty static and just grind the whole film to a halt. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Radley Metzger. The legend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is pure eye candy but with it's 2 hour running time I worry how captivated today's audiences may be over shag carpets, deep dish divas, and fuzzy bass Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
