It is 1941 and the world is in the throes of war. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) wants to do his part and join America's armed forces, but the military rejects him because of his small stature. Finally, Steve gets his chance when he is accepted into an experimental program that turns him into a supersoldier called Captain America. Joining forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), Captain America leads the fight against the Nazi-backed HYDRA organization.

Despite a poor villain in Red Skull, and a rushed third act, Captain American the First Avenger is a solid MCU movie. The action, emotion, and great capturing of this time period make it really work.

Captain America: The First Avenger is a fun movie with good protagonists, but a story following an establishes pattern. The protagonists are very likeable, they are well-written. My favourite character is Steve, the main protagonist, which doesn't always happen, but he is a great one. The antagonists on the other hand are very stereotypical, because I've seen too many like them. The story is enjoyable, and it has some twists that I wasn't expecting. The cinematography is good, the pacing too. The production design looked amazing and the visual effects were finally really great. I love the cast, all of them, but my favourite was Hayley Atwell. It's just a joy for me to see her. Tommy Lee Jones too. Captain America: The First Avenger is a great setup for the big event, I enjoyed it pretty much.

Captain America’s origin was left last before the Avengers movie for one reason: You have to save the best for last. A World War II movie-turned-science fiction and romance, it has some of the best characters that have ever been in the MCU. Amazing actors thrill the audience, and the plot goes on in a comprehensible way, even when it goes off-the-rails into previously uncharted territory. I firmly believe that this movie was the foundations of why the MCU has been so successful for so long, and though it has its faults, and is certainly not the best installment in the movies, it has stood the test of time as one of the greatest origins ever told.
