Critics Consensus

With plenty of pulpy action, a pleasantly retro vibe, and a handful of fine performances, Captain America is solidly old-fashioned blockbuster entertainment.

Tim J Loved every second of this second film on my climb from the bottom of the MCU timeline, still just as good as when it came out. I'll admit it felt a bit rushed towards the end, but that's how I feel about all great films, hungry for more that is! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/25 Full Review George B Love this movie. Great plot. Could watch any day of the week. Highly recommend, a must see along with all mcu captain america movies (haven't seen brave new world yet). You must see it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/25 Full Review Jace T Captain America: The First Avenger is a really enjoyable action film that adds to and deepens the beginnings of the MCU. I really love the backstory that Captain America has, and how he became the super hero we know him as. Hugo Weaving as Red Skull is a huge bonus as well. This is an Action Epic set in the past of where the MCU usually takes place. Captain America has to travel across the globe in this Adventure Epic to save the world. The threat that Red Skull puts on in this Epic tale is beyond evil the world currently knows at that point. As a superhero, Captain America is a One-Person Army Action hero that needs no one else for this tale. The way he obtains his powers and some of the technology in this Sci-Fi Epic is very interesting. Watch the story of how Captain America became the Superhero we know him as now. There are plenty of location to behold the Urban Adventure. There is a lot of Action throughout the movie, even before Steve Rogers become Captain America. This is Adventure through time, but mostly set in the past. The world changes permanently in this Sci-Fi film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/10/25 Full Review Ahmad Edris S Great movie, I expected it to be terrible because it's such a simple story as its just a guy with a shied but Marvel made it work by giving us a great movie, and I bet if it was DC they would make it unwatchable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/08/25 Full Review Jão B Great super hero movie, great World War II movie, great origin story. Just really solid in general. 🛡🇺🇸 (8/10) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/12/25 Full Review Gerald H “My favorite MCU movie! It might not be the best, but it captures the original Marvel comic book spirit better than any other.”. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
