Vandall D I truly enjoyed the cuteness of this movies. There are many faults that can be picked apart. However, I found that it moved at a good pace and had enough action to keep me interested. I also enjoyed the characters even though the acting was sub=par. I would recommend "Captain Nova" for its attention to concerns for the healthy future of our planet. The basics of the plot is ok if you can tolerate the we are going to kill the environment shtick. My problem with it, is that there are so many plot holes it feels like it was a story written by kids, directed by kids, and edited by kids that somehow conned some adults to act in it. For instance , a perfectly good bmw just overheats for no reason but plot on a 42 mile drive. It would have more believable that it ran out of gas. Also adult reactions to things were just not realistic. I don't want to rag on it too much because, hey I couldn't make a movie like this. So if my 6 yr old was watching it they'd probably enjoy it. Maybe, might be a little slow for them. Rated 0.5/5 Stars •  Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Nigel R The basic premise of Captain Nova is that a fighter pilot from 2050 goes back in time to 2025 to prevent a global environmental catastrophe; however, because of the time travel, she gets younger; hence, no one takes her seriously. In many ways, Captain Nova is like a lighter version of the German series, 'Dark.' What would happen if we tried to use travel as a way of averting disaster? I thought Captain Nova was better than the mediocre reviews I've read. It's by no means perfect, a little rough around the edges, perhaps, but it's a light but tight moral about environmental degradation, and it has a bit of heart -- and with the current dearth of SF movies with that quality -- they seem rather more bent on imploding our past interpretation of the genre at present -- it's refreshing to see something that has some human warmth, and a bit of harmless fun while doing so. Good performances all round, and the FX are good enough to tell the story of a fighter pilot going back in time to try to avert disaster. As a thoughtful, likeable SF movie for young adults, we can allow Captain Nova a few flaws -- it at least tries to be warm and uplifting, and at the time of writing, that's a novelty in itself. It hits a bulls-eye on the kind of future we can expect if we continue to burn and drill for fossil fuel. Bravo to all involved for bringing us one of the most important messages we need to recieve... It may be Sci-fi...but there is truth and reality it what it is saying. Especially when the son picks up the remains of a dead bird and Captain Nova tries to explain what it was.... on the dead planet human created because of greed for materialism. And the woman protagonist is a super role model...This movie can change the world if only we are smart enough to understand it!
